Created in 2023, MB Solutions is a new department specializing in deconstruction work for the energy sector, and more specifically in the dismantling of high-voltage pylons.
MB Solutions serves professionals in the broader energy industry (high-voltage electricity, wind energy, etc.) for deconstruction and dismantling projects, including the removal and recycling of dismantled components, foundation extraction, and ground restoration.
MB Solutions is equipped with specialized machinery: one lift tractor with a reach of up to 30 m, one lift truck reaching up to 70 m, four crawler excavators of 30T, 25T, 14T, and 6T fitted with scrap-cutting attachments, three trucks including two container carriers, and various small adapted equipment.
Our project managers travel throughout Belgium to assess your needs and provide a free quotation.
We work with professionals in the energy sector (high-voltage electricity, wind energy, etc.) for deconstruction and dismantling projects. With MB Solutions, you benefit from a single point of contact for the entire operation! Our equipment includes three crawler excavators of 25T, 14T, and 6T, all fitted with specialized scrap-cutting attachments.
Our team specializes in the dismantling of high-voltage pylons, notably for Elia (the operator of Belgium’s high-voltage electricity transmission network), as well as GSM, telephone, and low-voltage pylons.
We are equipped with highly specialized machinery, including a lift tractor with a reach of up to 30 m. This enables us to work safely at height, even in areas that are particularly difficult to access.
Our dismantling projects include the removal and recycling of dismantled components. We operate using three trucks, including two container carriers, supported when necessary by MB Manutention’s telescopic cranes and MB Transports’ fleet.
With great attention to soil protection, we work with MB Tôlage to create access routes to deconstruction sites. Once dismantling is complete, we carry out foundation extraction and full ground restoration, including replanting grass where necessary.
The lift truck allows safe work at height, even in hard-to-reach environments. Versatile and quick to deploy, it is suitable for urban, industrial, or infrastructure work such as building maintenance, structure inspection, and network servicing. Thanks to its significant working height and stability, it provides an efficient solution for all types of elevated operations.
Dismantling a high-voltage pylon involves removing its metal structure in a controlled and safe manner, followed by the processing and removal of the various materials resulting from the operation.
Once the electrical installation has been made safe by the grid operator, MB Solutions deploys the necessary technical resources according to the site configuration: lifting cranes, aerial work platforms, hydraulic excavators equipped with shears, trucks, containers and other specialised equipment.
The pylon can be dismantled progressively in sections or lowered before being cut up on the ground using hydraulic shears. Depending on the project, the operation may also include the demolition of concrete foundations, the removal of materials and the restoration of the site.
MB Solutions works on various types of pylons and structures associated with electrical infrastructure, including:
The dismantling method is determined on a case-by-case basis. It depends in particular on the height and weight of the structure, its surroundings, access conditions and the technical constraints of the site.
Site preparation generally begins with a technical site visit to assess the structure, terrain, access routes and site-specific constraints.
This assessment helps determine the resources required for the operation: hydraulic excavator, shears, lifting crane, aerial work platform, trucks, containers, ground protection or access mats.
The possibilities for machinery access and positioning, work areas, ground conditions, any underground utilities and safety requirements are also taken into account.
This preparation then makes it possible to coordinate the different phases of the project: lifting, dismantling, cutting, demolition, loading and removal of materials.
After a pylon has been dismantled, the materials are sorted and then transported to the appropriate treatment, recovery or recycling facilities.
Metal components can be cut directly on site using hydraulic shears to facilitate handling and transport. They are then loaded into containers or onto suitable vehicles before being transported to a metal recovery and recycling facility.
When the foundations are also demolished, the concrete is separated from the metal components and then transported to an appropriate treatment facility.
MB Solutions can manage this entire logistics process, from on-site cutting to loading, transport and removal of the materials, with the aim of promoting their sorting, recycling and recovery.
Yes. A pylon can be dismantled in a difficult-to-access area, provided that suitable resources are selected according to the terrain and site constraints.
Electrical pylons may be located in meadows, fields, wooded areas, uneven terrain, embankments or areas far from public roads.
Depending on the conditions, several solutions can be implemented. MB Tôlage, the MB Groupe department specialising in the creation of temporary access routes and ground protection, can install access mats and suitable ground coverings to facilitate access and the movement of machinery to the work area.
These solutions can be complemented by the use of suitable machinery, specific lifting equipment or aerial work platforms to reach the structure when its surroundings make the operation more complex.
For certain particularly challenging configurations, MB Solutions has also carried out dismantling operations with the use of a helicopter. This method makes it possible to remove or evacuate components when access with a crane or conventional machinery is impossible or particularly difficult.
The complementary expertise of the various MB Groupe divisions makes it possible to assess the access requirements and technical resources needed for each site.
Securing access begins with an assessment of the terrain and the conditions required for machinery to access and be positioned on site.
The width and load-bearing capacity of the access routes, the nature of the terrain, slopes and any potential obstacles are assessed before the operation.
The work area is also organised and clearly marked out to prevent people from entering zones where lifting, cutting, demolition and handling operations are taking place.
The measures implemented are defined according to the characteristics of the site and the requirements of the client or grid operator.
No. MB Solutions carries out high-voltage pylon dismantling, as well as various deconstruction, demolition and site preparation works.
Our teams carry out work including:
Thanks to the various areas of expertise and technical resources within MB Groupe, several phases of the same project can be coordinated: site assessment, access preparation, deconstruction, lifting and handling, material removal and site restoration.
